Job Overview: We are looking for applicants who are in good physical shape, able to lift over 50 pounds often.  Experience with heavy equipment and mechanical knowledge is a plus! We are looking for a long-term team member who is interested in learning every aspect of the garden center operation.  Preferred applicants will have knowledge of plants, their care and experience in the horticulture industry.

 

Responsibilities & Duties: 

• Water and care for plants

• Learn and offer current and correct information about plants, plant care and planting procedures.

• Unload and stock new material

• Create merchandise displays

• Greet and assist customers

• Keep store and outdoor area clean and organized

• Operate loader to load bulk material (mulch, stone etc.)

• Schedule delivers and review delivery schedule with driver

• Communicate necessary information and needs with buyers

 

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Driver’s License Required

• Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and have ability to effectively communicate with customers and management.

• Must be able to handle several tasks at the same time, prioritize workload, and have flexibility as work demands change.

• Self-motivated and able to stay productive working alone

• Basic computer knowledge 

• The ability to count back money

• Basic mechanical knowledge

• Basic plant knowledge

• Able to work in all types of weather

• Creative with the ability to think “outside-of-the-box” is a plus

 

Preference will be made to applicants with horticulture background and heavy machinery experience.
